Director of Construction Management


About the position

VCU Facilities Management is looking for an individual with extensive knowledge of commercial construction management, an ability to represent VCU customers on complex projects, experience supervising professional staff in the management of all projects within approved project budgets and scope, negotiation skill, above average written and oral skills, and experience with a State/Federal Purchasing System preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage a diverse staff and multiple projects concurrently, bility to seek inefficiencies within team and strive to reduce costs when able.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent related field required. Management experience of five or more employees. Ten years as a project manager or higher position handling multiple projects in commercial construction. Proven experience in trades, construction management/ general contracting, and owner/agency management. Knowledge and familiarity with the Commonwealth of Virginia Capital Outlay system preferred. Must be able to obtain the Virginia Construction Contracting Officer (VCCO) within one year in this position.
