Director of development, School of Social Work

James Romanik joins VCU as the Director of Development at the VCU School of Social Work. In this capacity, James is responsible for engaging alumni, emeriti faculty, and other key stakeholders in the school community, harnessing philanthropy for future initiatives. Most recently, James served as the Director of Development at The Doorways, a medical guest house that provides lodging and support services to thousands traveling to Richmond for lifesaving care at VCU Health and other local providers. Prior to this, he was the Director of Development at St. Michael's Episcopal School, Richmond's oldest independent school south of the James River. James began his career in development in New York City after graduating from Ithaca College in 2013 with a Bachelor's degree in Arts Management. He is also a MBA Candidate at the VCU School of Business with graduation expected in August 2022. Locally, James is a proud member of the Richmond Symphony Chorus and active with the Virginia Association of Fundraising Executives.
