Employment Verification

VCU has contracted with a third party partner to provide automated employment and income verifications through the service The Work NumberThis service may be used to verify employment for all full-time faculty, staff and part-time employees, including adjunct faculty, hourly and student workers. 

Anyone seeking to verify employment will need the company code and the employee's social security number.

  • VCU's employer code is 19114.
  • VCU Health's employer code is 18003.

Verifications of employment can be completed via The Work Number's online platform, or by phone at (800) 367-5690. Registration is required to proceed in both cases.

VCU Employees

To request your own verification of employment or a verification of income, visit The Work Number. This link allows VCU employees to login to The Work Number (TWN) via their VCU single sign-on ID through the Central Authentication Service.

  • From the home screen, you can either:
    • Prove Employment to Verifiers
    • Prove Income to Verifiers

VCU Health Employees

VCU Health employees must contact VCU Health Human Resources for assistance.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)

Send an electronic PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) form or application using the steps below:

1. Log In to Your Account on StudentAid.gov:

  • Visit the StudentAid.gov website.
  • Sign in using your FSA ID (Federal Student Aid Identification) or create one if you don't have it already.

2. Submit the PSLF Employer Certification Form:

  • On StudentAid.gov, navigate to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) page.
  • Click on the PSLF Help Tool.
  • Complete the Employer Certification Form by entering your employment information. The tool will help you determine whether your job qualifies for PSLF and will guide you through the process.
  • You’ll need to upload your employer's information so the form can be signed by the HR department or your employer. This form confirms that your employer is a qualified public service organization.
  • Once the form is signed and uploaded, submit it electronically through the website.

3. Track the Progress of Your ECF:

  • After submitting the Employer Certification Form, you can track the status of your form online. You’ll receive updates on whether your form has been accepted and what steps you need to take next.
  • If there are any issues with the form, you may be asked to correct or resubmit.

4. Submit the PSLF Application for Forgiveness:

  • After your form is approved, you can submit your PSLF application for forgiveness directly through the website.
  • Ensure that you have met all eligibility requirements, such as having 120 qualifying payments and working in qualifying public service employment.
  • Complete the necessary sections, and submit the application electronically.

5. Confirm Your Submission:

  • After completing the submission, you’ll receive confirmation from the Department of Education that your PSLF application has been received and is being processed.

6. Keep Copies of All Documents:

  • It's always a good idea to download and save copies of any forms you submit, as well as the confirmation emails or receipts from the Department of Education.
