Compensation
Compensation policies, practices and guidelines help determine pay and career development opportunities for the faculty and staff who support our university’s teaching, research, patient care and public service activities. As a public research university, VCU uses market-based compensation models that are unique to these diverse groups of faculty and staff.
Learning Resources
- Staff classification determines the relevant salary ranges for each position at the university:
- University and Academic Professional job families and salary ranges
- Classified pay bands
- VCU employees are invited to use the job summary tool to view information about market salary ranges for each type of position at the university. The tool can also help you compare one position to another.
Other Compensation
- Faculty salary administration guidelines are established through the VCU Provost's Office of Faculty Affairs. The VCU Board of Visitors approves final salaries upon the recommendation of the university president.
- Payments to independent contractors or other non-employees are handled through the VCU Office of Procurement Services.
