Faculty benefits
Our faculty members number more than 3,600. They teach, advise, research and provide administrative services, and help make VCU a world-class university. Whether full-time, part-time or adjunct, faculty members are eligible for a multitude of benefits, ranging from health insurance to tuition waivers to optional retirement plans.

Part-time faculty
When reading about health benefits, please note the following:
- Faculty who work 75 percent or more FTE (full-time equivalency) are considered full-time for health benefits coverage, which means that VCU pays a portion of the premium and the faculty member pays a portion of the premium.
- Faculty who work between 50 and 74.9 percent FTE are eligible for health benefits coverage; however, participants pay the total premium (VCU's premium portion plus their own premium portion).
- Faculty who work less than 50 percent FTE are not eligible for health benefits coverage (or retirement benefits).
Information pertaining to faculty benefits can be found in the Faculty Benefits Guide (PDF).
