Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, Medicines for All Institute 

Marianne Vermeer joins Medicines for All at VCU with a broad and eclectic background, including investment and operational experience in the US, South Asia and East Africa. Her passion is to combine business acumen with social purpose. As a C-level executive, she has worked in sectors as diverse as education technology, pharmaceutical R&D, economic development, higher education, health care, and international children’s welfare. As a consultant or advisor, she has worked on behalf of impact investors as they work to reach underserved populations.

Starting in Cairo, Egypt immediately after graduating with a degree from Colorado State University (CSU), Marianne has maintained an ability to work across cultures with people from all backgrounds. Past employers include Ohio University, Matrix Capital Markets Group, Forman Christian College (Pakistan), Acumen and several non-profit organizations. Most recently, she has worked extensively as a consultant with CDFIs and with health care companies in both advisory and interim operational roles. As well, she has served as a board member and chair of various committees of both for profit and non-profit organizations. Currently, she is on the boards of Intrahealth International and the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias.

In addition to her B.S. degree from CSU, Marianne earned an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She speaks English natively and can be polite in Arabic, Urdu, and sometimes Hungarian. She resides in Virginia with her family.
